That's right. This week at Darkest Temptations, we are delivering you some of the best Dark Authors out there. Each of us got a chance to talk to the authors you will see this week, and delve into their head a little. We wanted to know a little more about them and see what makes them love writing the darker side of fan fiction.
So, with that in mind, I give you the first of our week long interviews.. Yes!!! I said week long, as in Dark Authors WEEK!! So come back everyday to see who we have next for you. We hope you enjoy the next seven days of darkness.
I SQUEEEEE!!! Yes, I do, because Oriana is one of my favorite dark authors and I am thrilled she agreed to let me interview her.
(Thanks BB. I know it was a ride getting this interview done, but we are here now. I am beyond happy)
I feel so very honored that she would let us into her mind, as she is a very private person, so we can't thank her enough.
Oriana de la Rose is the author many fan fiction stories, including a Darksper story by the name of "dark Whispers" (one of my all time favorite stories)
Here is what she had to tell us...
Izzy:
So tell us a little bit about who Oriana de la Rose is...
Oriana:
There's not much to say about myself except that, honestly, I'm a very boring person. I make all A's and try to stay out of trouble. So I was born on the beach but moved to Georgia. I try not to hand out too much personal information because theres no telling how many stalkers there are out there (: lol
(No stalking Oriana, glares at readers, Mkay?)
Izzy:
You have several stories posted that are of the darker nature. What is it about writing dark that speaks to you?
Oriana:
Life is never ever easy. That's just how things are and there really isn't anything we can do to change that. I have always felt the need to write darker stories because I believe that writing should reflect how life truly is. Everything is not always sugar candy and rainbows and unicorns - sometimes you have to struggle through the darkness to find peace.
(Izzy nods her approval) Great answer
Izzy:
In your story, Dark Whispers, Jasper likes to be... dominant over Bella. Why did you feel he needed to posses this trait while introducing her to her sexuality opposed to a more subtle approach?
Oriana:
The whole reason I chose this way to introduce her to sex was all based on Jasper's character. He isn't a subtle character at all - that is simply who he is. So it stands to reason that he would be dominant over Bella.
Another major reason he is like this is because he sees himself as the older brother and should therefore care for his "sister" and see to her needs. He is overly protective of her and often that protectiveness manifests itself in his dominance. Like I said, it was all based on his character.
(Who doesn't love protective/possessive/dominant Jasper?)
Izzy:
You have introduced us to a dark story, where most people would frown upon the type of relationship they would have since they are siblings. Do you think writing them as brother and sister added to the darkness of this story, or is there another reason you chose to go this direction?
Oriana:
To be honest, I didn't conciously think I was going to write a story about sibling love in order to make the story darker. I read a book (titled "Josie and Jack") that got me thinking about this kind of twisted love. The story lines, of course, are drastically different but it inspired me. I knew I wanted to start a new story, and I knew that I wanted to make that story especially dark. I wish I had a deeper reason to making them siblings but the honest answer is that I was curious about how the story would play out if I wrote it like I did :)
(Well, it played off hun, you are doing great)
Izzy:
Why do you think Jasper's Character worked so well in this story, opposed to say Emmett or Edward even?
Oriana:
What is the first thing you think of when you think of the name Emmett? Most people would say a comedian or something of that sort. What about the name Edward? The whole reason I chose Jasper for this story was because, when it comes to Emmett or Edward, people have expectations and predispositions about what they think a character should act like.
Emmett was not NEARLY dark enough of a character for this story and Edward was just.......too romantic.
I wanted someone that had an edge to the character already and that left Jasper. Dark Whispers was my first story that concerned a Bella/Jasper pairing and I found that it fit the story abnormally well.
Izzy:
Do you have any plans to write more Darksper stories? Vampire or AH? I know we all would love to see it.
Oriana:
I'm not sure. I haven't given much thought to anything past Dark Whispers, mostly because I'm an in the moment kind of person. Haha, I tend to not think about the future EXCEPT when Im planning plot lines. lol. Dark Whispers may very well be my last story concerning any type of fanfiction mainly because my life is so full right now. But if I do write more, then it will definitely be Darksper. I've found that it's my favorite (:
(He's our favorite too! *wink* Keep us posted)
Izzy:
Do you look to anyone for inspiration when trying to conjure your dark side in writing?
Oriana:
I really dont look to anyone for any kind of inspiration. I'm a very private person and I dont like sharing my ideas about upcoming parts in a story but there is one friend that I have met through fanfiction that I have conspired with in the past (: However, the main thing that gets me motivated is watching dark movies such as Sweeney Todd (my favorite musical by the way).
(Sweeney? Oh, he's the Johnny version of Darksper. LOL)
Izzy:
Do you have any parting words of wisdom to those who want to take a go or do write dark characters?
Oriana:
Hmmm, all I really have to say about that is go for it. If dark characters are what you love then try it out. You only get better by practicing. No one is a good writer from the start (except for geniuses lol) and it all takes work (:
Very good words of wisdom here. I have to agree.
Again, thank you so much for your time and answering our questions. I really appreciate it.

Make sure to send her some love for her stories. We do want to warn our readers that her story is very very dark, and we love it that way here, but for our fluffy bunny readers, tread lightly. It is well worth it if you decide to give it a go.
