Dark Authors Week Presents: 4lettrwrd

We hope you have enjoyed our segment this week featuring these dark authors. We have had a blast getting to know these girls and learning about what makes them come over to the dark side. (And we learned it wasn't just the awesome cookies we have over here, either) It was insightful to learn why others want to dive into the realm of dark with our favorite cowboy, Jasper.

We conclude this week with a very special author, one whom I was blessed enough to call a friend. We weren't best friends by any means, but we clicked over our love for the dark side of writing. For a long time she was the only friend I had in the dark realm of fan fiction, and I have her to thank for giving me the courage to delve in it myself. Without her, we would not have this blog today.

A few months back when I started this blog, I asked Ke, 4lettrwrd, if she would be willing to let me pick her brain a bit for an article I wanted to write. She was so awesome about it and agreed, so I sent her a couple of  questions and she answered them in like thirty seconds it seemed, and sent them back.

I was so thrilled at her answers. They just seemed so... her, and I felt honored she would take the time out to let me interview her for this little known blog. (Not that we are much bigger today) It helped me in understanding why so many of us really enjoy the darker fics in the fan fiction world, and I could not thank her enough.

As most of you know, Ke is no longer with us. We lost an awesome writer not long ago, and I for one was completely shocked and heartbroken. I miss her crazy twitter rants and seeing updates in my inbox from her dearly (no matter what the story), and my thoughts are with her family and friends.

I struggled with whether or not to post this today, but she was one of my most favorite authors of all time, dark or not. There is no doubt in my mind that if she were still with us, I would have asked her to participate this week in the hopes she would say yes, but since it is not an option, I decided to end this week with her interview with me back in January. She was such an awesome person, what little of her I did know, and she will be greatly missed. I hope you enjoy...

Izzy:
So, what inspires you to write a darker character, opposed to the fluffy bunny characters?

4lettrwrd:
That's actually a really tough question. There's a lot of things that inspire me to write the dark stuff, opposed to happiness and rainbows.

First of all, I don't think life is ever happiness and rainbows, and I like to be somewhat honest in what I write. I've had a lot of shitty experiences in my life, and I've learnt that, just because something is not bright, shiny, happy, doesn't mean it can't be good. In my opinion, things can be beautiful, even when they're not pretty. Part of writing dark shit is trying to get people to understand that.

Also. Happiness, fluffy clouds, and all that. It's fucking boring. People want to see pain, and angst. It's the voyeuristic nature of people. Seeing someone else's pain makes you realize that maybe their lives aren't as shitty as they thought they were.

It's cathartic for me. Don't know how else to explain that.

Usually, I don't think about the fact that I'm writing dark stuff. I just write what I know, and what I've been inspired to write (I listen to a lot of dark music, and my brain is just twisted like that). It's only when people point it out to me that I'm like, "OK, that's a little morbid". I didn't think Visceral was a dark story until people started talking about it like that.

Izzy:
In Visceral, we not only have a dark Jasper but a very dark Bella. What is it about having two dark characters interact that make you want to write them?

4lettrwrd:
That story makes me cringe, honest to god.

Originally, Visceral was nothing like it is today. The original idea for the story was really mellow.
I never thought of them as dark. I take a lot of inspiration for both of them from my own life, and from my own experiences. As I said before, dark is just what seems to come out of me.

I enjoy writing them because I'm sick of reading saccharine romances. Fuck that shit. Life doesn't happen like that. I wanted something real. Jasper and Bella took on a life of their own though, and right now, I'm just enjoying seeing where they go. Of course, I have an outline for the story, but mostly, their interactions are spur of the moment kind of thing.

I rambled a bit there.

I like writing dark characters together because they just seem stronger to me. These sweet, fluffy characters seem like they lack both spine and substance. There is too much complexity in people for them to be as sweet as a lot of authors write them, and as I said, I like to keep some honesty in what I write.

The interactions between two dark characters are always so much richer, and more complex. also, more interesting to both read and write.

We will miss you Ke. Thank you for all you did for us while we had you.

4lettrwrd can be found:

Her stories are still posted on FF.net and her story Visceral was reposted by a friend/family member. You can stop by and leave a comment for her family on her profile page for her stories. You can also find the rest of the article HERE.

Dark Authors Week Presents...Maitressesaint

Good Saturday to you. Hope you all have had a good week and have enjoyed the awesome authors we have presented to you so far. One more day of dark minds to follow, and tomorrow will be a special day so make sure you come back and check out our special post we have planned.

Now, we have an amazing author to present to you today so please enjoy the dark mind of MaitresseSaint.

Cullen818
Tell me a bit about Maitressesaint the writer. Do you have a specific writing process.

Maitressesaint
I never did before. I just wrote leisurely, but eventually the update pressure got to me, so now I am writing my stories until they are complete and posting. I usually write in my bed with music on; it’s where I’m the most comfortable and I find it easier to write when I’m in my own element.

Cullen818
What is it about Darksper that intrigues you?

Maitressesaint
I think it’s the dominate side of him. He’s stereotypically everything a man should be, but never is.

Cullen818
The Darksper you have created in Haunted is pretty scary. Where did you come up with him?

Maitressesaint
A dream actually. I’m about to spoil a little bit of the story, so close your eyes if you don’t want to know, but I had a dream that Jasper kidnaps Bella and all but tortures her. He is very dark, nearly sadistic and gets off on fear, but Bella doesn’t fear him so naturally he is annoyed and will do all he can to change that.

Cullen818
Do you normally read dark fics? And if so, are there any authors or fics that you feel really get the “dark” on.

Maitressessaint
My first Darksper was You’ll Be Mind and I have been hooked since. I read every dark fic I can find. There are so many authors, geez, um… Izzy of course with Faith In You. Lilly Monroe. I love anything by Cullen818 and add Jasper’s Darlin’ Kathy to the mix and that’s just… genius.

Cullen818 interjects ...I'm blushing.

Cullen818
What is the best part about writing fanfiction for you?

Maitressesaint
It’s relaxing. My very own escape from reality and I’ve started venturing into other stuff too. I’ve found love in writing.

Cullen818
Do you have a specific plan in mind for the direction of Haunted? Any hints or teasers you’d like to share with your eager readers?

Maitressesaint
See question 3. I’m not telling anymore than I already have *laughs*

Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with me. I'm really intrigued now, so please hurry up and finish writing Haunted. lol

Dark Authors Week Presents: Lilly Monroe

Lilly of the Valley

We want to thank our next wonderful author for joining us today. She shares a little of herself and what makes her love the dark side.

Lilly Monroe is a dark priestess for sure. Her addicts keep you intertwined in their dark and twisted world and there is no escape. She has many fics under her belt that are dark and just hot! Her fic Carousel is just... gah! Jasper is just... there are no words. It was the first fic of Lilly's that I read and was like Holy Hell. Lilly is very twisted and I have had the honor and privileged of helping her with some other dark fics to be posted soon. She is definitely one to watch out for. *grins*

Now for the interview:
Thank you for participating in our "Dark Authors Week". I can honestly say that I am a super hug fan and it is my honor that you accepted my invitation. When this came up you were the first one I thought of "Carousel", your addicts are so addictive. *laughs* You know know how I really feel about them.

Okay enough of the flattery lets get to the dark business....

JSK:
Tell us a little about you and what makes you tick?

Lilly:
Well currently I’m a full time student who, when I’m not busy with school, devotes most of my time to writing. What makes me tick? God where do I start? Liars, hypocrites and people who play off the weaknesses off others, those probably are at the top of my list.

JSK:
What draws you to the dark-side of fan fiction? Is it in your nature to gravitate that way even when reading?

Lilly:
It definitely is in my nature to gravitate towards the dark-side of fiction. I absolutely love when an author is able to take any character and make them completely dark, twisted and sometimes even a bit insane. There are so many different aspects to being ‘dark’ that, as an author, I can enter the inner workings of these characters’ minds and get to know what makes them tick and snap. To me, it’s simply fascinating. You could even say I’m obsessed with it.

JSK:
Who are some of your favorite dark authors and stories? And why?

Lilly:
Oh wow, there are so many! Off the top of my head I can name a few. Dark Whispers by Oriana de la Rose is another favorite that draws me in with every single chapter. Her Jasper and Bella just completely own me! Hands down some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read! Demons and Sinners by Alsper is I think the only Jasper/Alice story that I have ever fallen in love with. There’s also A Twisted Twilight Tale by IvyLane. It has to be one of the few stories with Edward that I can actually stomach. She makes him so twisted and screwed up in the head that you don’t know whether to slap him or hug him and make him feel all better. There are so many more, but when I think of dark, those stories automatically some to mind!

JSK:
Your story "Carousel" consist of a hot, dark, addict Jasper. Is there a reason you choose to write Jasper and not Emmett or Edward for this one?

Lilly:
I’ve always had a soft spot of Jasper from the very beginning and, in my mind there is so much to his character than a lot of people think about. If you take what little history that is given about him in the books he is this quiet, reserved man who once led a dark and tumultuous life who will carry around the scars for the rest of his life. That right there got me to thinking that, at some point, it was very liable for him to snap and just lose it. To me Jasper is an addict in so many ways already and I just wanted to play with him, take my own spin on the guy that so many people love and occasionally fear.

JSK:
Is there reason your stories tend to rotate around all things addictive? For example in Carousel, Jasper and Bella have struggles with their addictions? Was that intended or was it just the flow of the words makes it seem that way?

Lilly:
It was definitely intended from the very beginning. I wanted to take these two characters and twist them to the best of my abilities and make it so the readers didn’t know whether to love or hate them. As to why my stories tend to revolve around things of an addictive nature is because I am a person who has plenty of addictions and knows what it’s like to be in this constant cycle with things that, even when they’re bad for us, we just can’t seem to quit. There is always a little bit of my own story weaved into my characters. Things they do, say and experience often times comes from my own experiences. Right or wrong, sometimes I can only write it the way I’ve lived it. It’s very personal and therapeutic to me writing these addicts. Also, being dark and twisted is fun for me. It’s just in my nature I suppose to go down that route. I wouldn’t have it any other way though.

JSK:
I know you are currently working on other dark stories, but is it easy to write the darker side of our favorite southern gentleman?

Lilly:
That’s a tough one. On the one hand writing the dark side of Jasper is so easy, but at the same time it can be rather frustrating. He can be a rather fickle character when he wants to be and it’s hard to keep up with the constant changing of emotions. But, that’s Jasper and it’s what I love about his character and always will. Getting the gentleman aspect out of the picture makes for some interesting, sexy and all around mind blowing adventures in my opinion.

JSK:
What is your inspiration behind your stories? Do they come to you easily?

Lilly:
Well like I said there is a little piece of me that is imbedded in each and every one of my characters to a certain point. So I guess I find inspiration in myself and the things I’ve done or experienced. While inspiration and all these ideas come to me so easily, it’s the actual sitting down and writing part of it all that can be a challenge sometimes. At the same time though almost everything around me inspires me. Things I see in movies or random conversations I have with friends always seem to spark an idea for a scene or sometimes even a whole new story!

JSK:
Do you have any future plans to write more Darksper? AH or Au?

Lilly:
At the current moment I have no plans on writing any more Darksper, but only because I have too many stories that needed to be written and completed. I think later on I will though. I would love to delve into the vampire world and Jasper and see what comes out of this twisted mind of mine. I can only imagine what dark things he’ll start whispering in my ear. So that will definitely be something I’d love to start writing later on.

JSK:
Is there any advise you'd give to any one reading this interview who is unsure if they could write a dark story?

Lilly:
I say to absolutely go for it! There are so many aspects of ‘dark’ and the possibilities are endless. I never thought that I would be writing these dark and twisted stories, but I am so glad that I took the risk and started writing them. I think that everyone has a little bit of dark inside of them. To me it’s fun and oddly entertaining to write a dark story. You know never know, it could become you new obsession or addiction.

JSK:
Feel free to give us any thoughts on the interview. Also if you could tell us where all your stories can be found, I will add them along with anything else you might have going on in the fandom.

Lilly:
I really enjoyed the interview! I haven’t really ever given thoughts to a lot of these things in terms of why I write the way I do and so forth. It gave some insight into my own personal thoughts so thank you for that!

Thanks again to LillyMonroe for letting us in a bit. It was most interesting.

Dark Authors Week Presents: Jezebel Whitlock

Again, I am so excited to get a chance to interview one of my favorite Authors, Jezebel Whitlock. Her story Chances, is one of my all time favorite Darksper stories and it is so fresh and unique, I can't help but squee when we get updates.

OK, On to the fun part...

I want to thank Jezebel for giving us a peak inside her mind, and for taking her time out to talk to us. On to the interrogation...

Izzy:
Tell us who Jezebel Whitlock is..

Jezebel:
My name is Kristy. I'm seventeen, live in Canada and have a pretty normal life. I'm just finishing up my last few months of high school, rushing to get everything sorted out for University. I love writing stories and reading. I'm going to be studying English in university and one of my hopes is to write my own novel someday.

Izzy:
What is it about Darksper that appeals to you? Why do you like to write him?

Jezebel:
I'm not sure what it is about Darksper that appeals to me because there are so many reasons. I think it's being able to embrace a whole new identity for him. Something different than what happened in the original Twilight Saga. I like writing about him because in the books, you don't really see much of him, except for his own little chapter in Eclipse.
(We all agree, not enough Jasper in the saga)

Izzy:
In Chances, Jasper is very dark. Why did you choose him to write in your story instead of one of the other Twiguys?

Jezebel:
I chose to write about Jasper because he is actually one of my favorite
Cullen men. That's not to say I don't like the others but I just adore him. Between his past with Maria and his struggle to maintain the vegetarian diet, it gives Jasper a completely different persona. I thought he would be best in this situation.
(Agreed. Jasper is #1)

Izzy:
Do you have to get yourself into a certain mindset to write a darker
character like Darksper? If so, how do you achieve that?

Jezebel:
Truthfully? No. I guess when the words come, I just write them down. I could be in the middle of class and the words and ideas will simply start forming. Sometimes they come quickly, other times it seems like a chore to get the words to come and compose something decent.
(A true dark writer! Think and it comes)

Izzy:
What are some of your favorite Darksper stories that you are currently or have read.

Jezebel:
You'll Be Mine by Jasper's naughty girls
Nemesis or Savior by IwantaWerewolfForMyself
I'm sure there's more I just can't think of anymore at the moment
(love both of these fics)

Izzy:
Have any of these Darksper stories help inspire you to write Chances?

Jezebel:
It wasn't actually a Darksper story that helped inspire me. It was actually a Bella/Edward story I read a long time ago. I can't remember the name of it but something about the story inspired me to write a Darksper story.
(well, we thank Darkward for turning you over)

Izzy:
Do you have any plans for more Darksper stories to come?

Jezebel:
At the moment, no. I am overwhelmed by my 4 other stories as well as school to even think about writing another. It takes a lot of energy to write a Darksper story plus, I don't know if I could even come up with a good enough plot to consider writing another one. Who knows? If inspiration hits, there might be another one.
(We would love to see more, Keep us updated)

Izzy:
What would you say to anyone who is looking into or just starting out in the Dark genre? Any words of wisdom?

Jezebel:
Be prepared to come away exhausted. Looking into the mind of a dark character can be scary. Especially when you're just starting out on one. Don't go at it all at once. It's best to take your time. If you're confused over a point in the story, don't be afraid to voice your thoughts on a particular part. I find that when readers need clarification on something, asking the author helps give a better understanding.

Thank you so much for your time Jezebel. We loved getting a peak into your dark side.

Dark Authors Week Presents : Gemgem020507

Today we are honored to have a chance at getting into GemGem020507's dark little mind. She was nice enough to share a little of herself with us and show us a bit of her dark side.

C818:
Tell me a bit about Gemgem020507 the writer. Do you have a specific writing process?

Gem:
Um, not really. I tend to get an idea in my head for a week or so and whenever I find myself driving somewhere or even just laying in bed, I think about it and how to turn it in to a fic. I guess a lot of my writing is done in my scary, scary mind! My writing process is erratic. I tend to have ideas and then have to find a way to weave them together. For instance, for 'Feel You', I knew I wanted the plot to be in Twilight before Edward and Bella really fell in love. I also knew I wanted the final line of the o/s to be “Little would they know that they had the right cause of death...just the wrong animal”. So I just had to figure out the rest, ha!

C818:
What is it about the darker side of Fan Fiction that intrigues you? Is it only Darksper or do you enjoy the dark fic genre as a whole?

Gem:
Well, I think every girl, deep down, loves the bad boy! I like the idea of S.M's vamps being, as she says, 'the world's most dangerous predator'. I think that is the essence of why I enjoy darker fics, exploring the idea that these amazingly good-looking vampires can have you under their spell in seconds. There is something sensual about the idea of being at Darksper's predatory mercy. The image that I always think of when it comes to Darksper, is him either sniffing or licking the victim's neck. That idea that he has life in his hands, to do with as he wishes. Jasper is my fave Cullen, he has the best back story and always balances on the brink of slipping. Plus...southern draw, just sayin'.

C818:
Your o/s Feel You was pretty dark. Where did you come up with that version of Jasper?

Gem:
That is how I see Jasper. He would do anything to protect his coven, his family. He is still The Major at heart, and will never fully leave the war mentality. To him, humans are beneath him. They were at one point, unlike the other Cullen's, his food! I believe Jasper would have thought nothing of killing one human to save his mate and the family who rescued him from his personal hell. In my mind, I also think that if Jasper did decide to take care of Bella, he would have made the most of it. I mean, imagine living off just drinking water and eating dry bread but spending all day everyday around juicy steaks! If you decide to snap and eat the steak, guarantee you're gonna enjoy every single second of it, ha. I also love the idea of how Jasper's gift can be used in a negative way rather than positive. I would have to imagine that Jasper's power is the best to acquire human prey, but I find that is rarely explored. So in short, my Jasper is protective, manipulative, predatory and hott, ha!

C818:
I know at one time you spoke of expanding Feel You into a full fic, but hit a few bumps in the road with some discouraging reviews. Are you still tossing the idea around?

Gem:
I actually am, yes. I would really like to take this opportunity to address the situation a little. When I first posted 'Feel You' I was met with a lot of negative response. I even received personal attacks via emails that upset me so much. My rock at that point, was my beta Angelz1114577. She even jumped to my defense and earned herself the title of Super Beta, Da-Da-D-Da! She talked me down from the writing ledge and convinced me to continue. I did however, kinda toss aside 'Feel You' and the idea of continuing or writing any other Darksper. It was pushed to the back of my mind...that was until I received the kindest review from a crazy woman called Akyria. Her review was nothing but praise and affirmation that I am not alone in wanting to read and write Darker fics. Her review touched me so much that I had to respond, (which, to be honest, I don't do much anyone regarding 'Feel You'). I thanked her and explained how alienated writing the fic had actually made me feel, I think I thanked her a million times over, ha. The next day, I receive an email. In short, it said hey, look here, it's a blog called Jasper's Darlin's, they will love you. Through that email I have FINALLY found a community that is more me! I have found that I am not alone in my love of Darksper and that I am not twisted in wanting to read and write a vampire actually killing someone (shock, I know). I feel so much better about 'Feel You' now and I know that if I do continue, I wont be lynched!

C818:
Do you normally read dark fics? And if so, are there any authors or fics that you feel really get the “dark” on.

Gem:
Um, it depends on my mood. Sometimes I want some romance and goodness, sometimes I want all consuming darkness, other times I want lemons with no plot! Darksper is my weakness though, especially when demanding to be addressed as Major, on threat of punishment...Did I reveal a little too much there? Woops. Right now there are two Dark fics that are owning my ass! The first is “Innocence Lost” by Cullen 818 *giggle snort* totally not kissing ass, promise. I love a darker Edward for a change, not to mention that I am an absolute angst h00r. Dark-angst and I am in heaven. Speaking of dark-angst, Darksper+Darkward=Happy GemGem! Queue segway to 'You'll Be Mine' by Jasper's Naughty Girls. But there is one mention I would like to make for a AH fic that owned me start to end, sequel too! 'First Love Lost' by Oracle Vas. This is a Dark Jasper, but humanly dark. I loved it.

C818:
What is the best part about writing fanfiction for you?

Gem:
I think it depends on the type of fic. I currently have a multi-chap that has a lot of myself in it. It is based from personal experience and the best part for me is when I receive a review saying how I have written the personal aspects well and with respect, or that they have been there too and I have written the character well. When it comes to darker fics, I enjoy like minded readers who say, hey since you are this kind of writer, you will love this fic. I also enjoy writing out my twisted little fantasies or ideas and seeing them complete. I guess it is hard to pick my favorite part, I love to write, I really do. But if I have to pick, the best part of all, is being within a community of funny and same-minded people. I love meeting new readers and friends, prime example being Akyria! I am now her blog partner and I spend pretty much all day everyday emailing, tweeting or Iming the crazy woman!

C818:
Are you currently working on any new fics? Do you have a story line that just won’t leave you alone?

Gem:
I am currently working on a collab with Akyria but right now, it is a little hush, hush. I do have a storyline that won't leave me alone though! It would involve Darksper but right now I can only see how to make it work as AH and I don't want that. So I am trying to tweak the idea in my mind to make it vamp centric. I am almost there, so I may start to try and write it soon. It will only be a o/s but I can guarantee lemons, I mean, what is Darksper without a citrus twist? All I will say is this, Dark-sper, Cop-ella and a jail cell!

Thanks for stopping by to chat with me, and can I say, I'll take a little ass kissing anyday! lol

Dark Authors Week Presents: Kitty Cullen

Here Kitty Kitty...

It is my honor and a priviledge to bring you an interview with our beloved Jasper's Darlin', Kitty Cullen. She has many dark fics under her talented belt which includes few of my favorites... One Final Taste, One More Taste, and Control. Control is the biggest favorite of mine as I said I love them all and Kitty is an awesome author, but it just spoke to me for reasons I can't explain. I have been honored by Kitty helping me with my ideas at times when i am just not sure about something and I have been able to return that for. She is a major Jasper player, who knows how to make him play right into your mind and makes you love him even more. She is also collabed with a wide variety of authors who inturn all rock our socks.

Now for our interview:

Thank you for participating in our "Dark Authors Week". I can honestly say that I am a super huge fan and it is my honor that you accepted my invitation. When this came up you were the first one I thought of. "Control" owned me, it was like I couldn't stop reading. I just had to have more.

Okay enough of the flattery lets get to the dark business....

JSK:
Tell us a little about you and what makes you tick?

Kitty:
Let’s see-I’m a mom, and I work part-time at a winery. When I’m not chasing the child around the house, I love to read. I’m currently reading the Black Jewels Trilogy, which is AWESOME. I also, as you know, spend my time writing. It’s the one thing that I do for myself that keeps me sane-living in such a small town I’ve gotta do something!

JSK:
What draws you to the dark-side of fan fiction? Is it in your nature to gravitate that way even when reading?

Kitty:
Here’s the way I see it. These are VAMPIRES. And in Stephenie Meyers novels, they have the potential to be very bad. In fact, it’s in their nature. And while sometimes it’s all well and good that they’re vegetarians, and fluffy bunnies and that, sometimes it’s not. Sometimes, you’ve got to let them have their blood. To me, there is nothing sexier than a vampire who’s doing what they’re meant to do.

JSK:
Who are some of your favorite dark authors and stories? And why?

Kitty:
Oh, Gee. Innocence Lost by cullen818 is rocking me right now-she does bad soooo good. Faith in You by JaspersIzzy is also at the top of my list right now (and I’m not biased because I beta it-it truly is AWESOME).

JSK:
Your stories consist of a hot and dark Jasper. Is there a reason you choose to write Jasper and not Emmett or Edward?

Kitty:
I don’t like Edward. I think he’s pushy and snobbish. Emmett is too brotherly for me to write most of the time-I can’t really get inside his head. Jasper…I just kind of feel him. I think he’s sexy, and dangerous, and kind all at the same time. What sold it for me was when I read the draft of Midnight Sun on Stephenie Meyer’s website-when he’s considering all the ways he can kill Bella…*shudders* How can you not love him? He would kill an innocent girl for the safety of his family.

JSK:
Are there reasons for the struggles in the stories you write? For example in Control, Jasper and Bella have struggles that need to be over come. Is there a purpose in that or is it just the vision lead you down that path as you were writing?

Kitty:
I don’t want to make things easy. In relationships, there are usually fights, and struggles that have to be overcome. Jasper and Bella are the same, even more so. In my stories, for the most part, Edward and Bella were together as well as Alice and Jasper-so they have to overcome those old relationships first before they can be together. I just want to make it as realistic as vampires can get!

JSK:

I know you are currently collaborating with LacyM3 under the pen-name Lace Kittens. Is there a rhyme or reason behind that? Is it different writing alone than it is to write with a co-author? Do you think it makes your story better or just adds a different flavor to the writing?

Kitty:
Originally, Lacy and I just kind of decided to write together. Like, I was tweeting about collabing again, and so was she, and we were like “why don’t we do this together?” When we got started, we found out that we worked really well together-she’s literally the other half of my brain. One story turned into two, and then three, and then four…shall I keep going? It’s very different, but in a good way. I always have her to work through a chapter with, and we feed off of each other. I think it adds a great new flavor to the writing-we both have different ideas that can blend together in a great way, and we really can make it flow. If it wasn’t for her, I would be giving away one of my stories. We’re going to turn my story, The Bella Swan Guide to Getting Your Life Back into a lace kittens project, because I was having such a hard time. I love her hard.

I’ve also collabed with a few other great girls, and I love them all dearly-Bamababe, NCChris, Maitressesaint, and currently, tiffaninichole.

JSK:
What is your inspiration behind your stories? Do they come to you easily?

Kitty:
Um, Usually I just start thinking about ‘what if?” With Control, I just thought ‘what if Jasper let his powers get out of hand? What would he do then?” I could see him struggling with it. And then with Awake in the Dark, I thought that there wasn’t enough Sexsper out on the market and that needed to be remedied ASAP.

JSK:
Do you have any future plans to write more Darksper? AH or Au?

Kitty:
At the moment, no, but that’s because I don’t’ have anything in the works. I plan on starting the sequel to Control in the near future, but that’s the only work in progress that I have (besides lace kittens projects). Perhaps when Awake in the Dark is complete, I’ll start another Darksper story. Or you never know-the inspiration might hit and I’ll have to jump right in like I always do.

JSK:
Is there any advice you'd give to any one reading this interview who is unsure if they could write a dark story?

Kitty:
Give it a shot! Just give over to basic instinct, and go from there. Don’t be afraid-the only person you need to make happy is yourself.

JSK:
Feel free to give us any thoughts on the interview. Also if you could tell us where all your stories can be found, I will add them along with anything else you might have going on in the fandom

Kitty:
Thanks for interviewing me, I really am super-honored!! It’s fantastic. *blows kisses*

Thanks again to Kitty for taking the time to give us a bit of herself. We really appreciate it BB.

Dark Authors Week Presents: Oriana de la Rose

That's right. This week at Darkest Temptations,  we are delivering you some of the best Dark Authors out there. Each of us got a chance to talk to the authors you will see this week, and delve into their head a little. We wanted to know a little more about them and see what makes them love writing the darker side of fan fiction.

So, with that in mind, I give you the first of our week long interviews.. Yes!!! I said week long, as in Dark Authors WEEK!! So come back everyday to see who we have next for you. We hope you enjoy the next seven days of darkness.

I SQUEEEEE!!! Yes, I do, because Oriana is one of my favorite dark authors and I am thrilled she agreed to let me interview her.

(Thanks BB. I know it was a ride getting this interview done, but we are here now. I am beyond happy)

I feel so very honored that she would let us into her mind, as she is a very private person, so we can't thank her enough.

Oriana de la Rose is the author many fan fiction stories, including a Darksper story by the name of "dark Whispers" (one of my all time favorite stories)

Here is what she had to tell us...

Izzy:
So tell us a little bit about who Oriana de la Rose is...
Oriana:
There's not much to say about myself except that, honestly, I'm a very boring person. I make all A's and try to stay out of trouble. So I was born on the beach but moved to Georgia. I try not to hand out too much personal information because theres no telling how many stalkers there are out there (: lol
(No stalking Oriana, glares at readers, Mkay?)

Izzy:
You have several stories posted that are of the darker nature. What is it about writing dark that speaks to you?
Oriana:
Life is never ever easy. That's just how things are and there really isn't anything we can do to change that. I have always felt the need to write darker stories because I believe that writing should reflect how life truly is.  Everything is not always sugar candy and rainbows and unicorns - sometimes you have to struggle through the darkness to find peace.
(Izzy nods her approval) Great answer

Izzy:
In your story, Dark Whispers, Jasper likes to be... dominant over Bella. Why did you feel he needed to posses this trait while introducing her to her sexuality opposed to a more subtle approach?
Oriana:
The whole reason I chose this way to introduce her to sex was all based on Jasper's character. He isn't a subtle character at all - that is simply who he is. So it stands to reason that he would be dominant over Bella.
Another major reason he is like this is because he sees himself as the older brother and should therefore care for his "sister" and see to her needs.  He is overly protective of her and often that protectiveness manifests itself in his dominance.  Like I said, it was all based on his character.
(Who doesn't love protective/possessive/dominant Jasper?)

Izzy:
You have introduced us to a dark story, where most people would frown upon the type of relationship they would have since they are siblings. Do you think writing them as brother and sister added to the darkness of this story, or is there another reason you chose to go this direction?
Oriana:
To be honest, I didn't conciously think I was going to write a story about sibling love in order to make the story darker.  I read a book (titled "Josie and Jack") that got me thinking about this kind of twisted love. The story lines, of course, are drastically different but it inspired me. I knew I wanted to start a new story, and I knew that I wanted to make that story especially dark.  I wish I had a deeper reason to making them siblings but the honest answer is that I was curious about how the story would play out if I wrote it like I did :)
(Well, it played off hun, you are doing great)

Izzy:
Why do you think Jasper's Character worked so well in this story, opposed to say Emmett or Edward even?
Oriana:
What is the first thing you think of when you think of the name Emmett? Most people would say a comedian or something of that sort.  What about the name Edward?  The whole reason I chose Jasper for this story was because, when it comes to Emmett or Edward, people have expectations and predispositions about what they think a character should act like.
Emmett was not NEARLY dark enough of a character for this story and Edward was just.......too romantic.
I wanted someone that had an edge to the character already and that left Jasper.  Dark Whispers was my first story that concerned a Bella/Jasper pairing and I found that it fit the story abnormally well.

Izzy:
Do you have any plans to write more Darksper stories? Vampire or AH? I know we all would love to see it.
Oriana:
I'm not sure.  I haven't given much thought to anything past Dark Whispers, mostly because I'm an in the moment kind of person. Haha, I tend to not think about the future EXCEPT when Im planning plot lines. lol.  Dark Whispers may very well be my last story concerning any type of fanfiction mainly because my life is so full right now.  But if I do write more, then it will definitely be Darksper.  I've found that it's my favorite (:
(He's our favorite too! *wink* Keep us posted)

Izzy:
Do you look to anyone for inspiration when trying to conjure your dark side in writing?
Oriana:
I really dont look to anyone for any kind of inspiration.  I'm a very private person and I dont like sharing my ideas about upcoming parts in a story but there is one friend that I have met through fanfiction that I have conspired with in the past (:  However, the main thing that gets me motivated is watching dark movies such as Sweeney Todd (my favorite musical by the way).
(Sweeney? Oh, he's the Johnny version of Darksper. LOL)

Izzy:
Do you have any parting words of wisdom to those who want to take a go or do write dark characters?
Oriana:
Hmmm, all I really have to say about that is go for it.  If dark characters are what you love then try it out. You only get better by practicing. No one is a good writer from the start (except for geniuses lol) and it all takes work (:

Very good words of wisdom here. I have to agree.
Again, thank you so much for your time and answering our questions. I really appreciate it.

Make sure to send her some love for her stories. We do want to warn our readers that her story is very very dark, and we love it that way here, but for our fluffy bunny readers, tread lightly. It is well worth it if you decide to give it a go.
