So, here we are. The last day of our contest week and we are sad to see it go. This has been so much fun for all of us and again, I want to thank everyone who participated in it and making it a great success. It still blows my mind that it was so big being our first contest. One Hell of a Forever
We had the opportunity to interview her and get into her dark little head a bit and we will in a moment, but first we wanted to give our two cents worth of beans about what we thought of this fic.
I think I cried out all my tears on this one.
It was awesomesauce, totes!! Jasper taking off Rosalie's arm and
beating her with it... I died.... *cries* Edward dry humping his
piano... *grins*
That was just priceless, even without Jasper's "help" it would have
been hysterical. There was seriousness in here but at times, I think
but it was just too damn comical. That is how you know it is great,
when you can't stop reading and laughing when you should be disturbed.
*shrugs* I love the way it is all balanced and you did a Great Job!
This is the story of what happens when Jasper has his sights set on something. Let's just say that determination is an understatement and some surprising lives will be lost. This was an epic o/s, topping out at over 10,000 words, so it contains a well-written, strong plot. You won't believe the things Jasper does in this one. I had to read it twice! Obviously many agree with me since it won the voter's pick. The author also writes about a particular piano scene that displays Jasper's power in a way that I have never seen it used before. You have to read it for yourself.
I found myself on the edge of my seat during this one. It was unreal. One of the things that I found highly disturbing about this contest was how many of these stories made me laugh. How fucked up is that? And this fic here was no exception because I laughed so hard I about pissed myself. Eddie and Piano lovin... that's all I'm sayin'. I was also floored by how easy going this all was. I found myself wanting Jasper to rip them all apart and throw them in a fire, and that is unbelievable. I loved how she portrayed the Cullen's as being so messed up and not the perfect family like most of us see them. I was a bundle of anticipation, just waiting to see what secrets we would uncover next.

Tell us about yourself...
Gem:
Well...I'm a 28yr old stay at home mum of two daughters, my town is pretty much the English version of Forks...although we get a little more sunshine. I spend my days with my kids...studiously ignoring any housework that needs to be done in order to keep up with the gargantuan amount of fics that I read.
I came to the Twilight Saga via the film...I knew about the books before hand (by 'knew' I mean constantly ordered to read them and threatened with bodily harm if I continued to ignore her...thank you sister dear.) but i wanted to watch the film first. Because I am stubborn and I hate it when films deviate from the books...so I played safe. Of course once I started reading I didn't stop, and let me tell you...breastfeeding whilst trying to hold onto the huge hard back copy of 'Breaking Dawn' is no easy task.
My introduction to Fanfiction was also via my sister, whose obsession became known to me only when she gave up asking me to read some of it and literally dragged me to her computer and forced me to sit down. And I've pretty much been there ever since LOL.

What do you like about the Darker side of Jasper?
Gem:
Oh god...what is there not to like?! Jasper begs to be such an emotive character and that translates so well into the ultimate bad boy persona...and who doesn't want to be the one that tames the monster? I love the idea that he has that one person that he would do anything for, that there are no boundaries if he loves you. Yet you are safe in the knowledge that he can and will kick the shit out of anyone that bothers you. Or murder half his family...lol. Not forgetting the undeniable fact that he is incredibly sexy...with a gift that women would kill to take advantage of and that accent? Oh yes please!

What are some of your favorite Darksper stories? Or Dark stories in general?
Gem:
Pfft...we could be here all day lol. 'The Scent of Fear' by VampishVixen is definitely one of my favorites, 'Bound by Promises' by JaspersIzzy has me itching for the next chapter, 'Who Are You?' by Baruka Athena captures you so easily I love when the Major comes out to play in JamesRamsey's 'Insecurities' and when Mynxi's 'Saving Bella' has Jasper dragging Bella out of the darkness that Edward left her in and Jasper's Black Rose writes a wonderful Darksper. Another favorite of mine is 'Wanted' by Anadabyel, funny as hell and she rocks the Bad Boy Jasper. Jasper's Sex Kitten has a definite talent for playing with dark characters and I am loving 'Innocence Lost' and Cullen818's Darkward and I am holding out for Idreamofeddy to finish off 'Breathless Hunger'. That is not all of them by far, my obsession knows no bounds.

DT:
You killed off some of the Cullen's, but not all in this OS. What possessed you to choose some and not others?
Gem:
To be honest, my first thoughts when I decided to write this was that I was going to kill them all off...but I just couldn't do it lol. I wanted a more morally ambiguous Cullen Family and a murder spree, so I had to pick and choose who would still be around at the end. Jasper wanted Bella...so those in opposition had to die. Alice...well there was no question that she would be the first to go. I wanted her murder to be the catalyst for the rest, with her out of the way Jasper didn't need to worry about anyone scuppering his plans. Rose was just too easy to kill off I'm afraid, especially when I wanted a free and easy Emmett. Of course Edward was a given, but I liked that Bella was the one to rip him apart...he probably even enjoyed it. Carlisle and Esme...they were safe because I love them and a naughty Carlisle is always a Carlisle that you keep lol, and I am desperate for a less than motherly Esme.
DT:
How did you come up with that "Eddie getting off on the piano" scene? That had us all in stitches.

LOL. Well...I needed something that would mortify poor Edward enough that he would leave and give the rest some worthy entertainment and demonstrate the power that Jasper wields, I was also hoping for a laugh for the readers. Not to mention a little revenge for Bella. It was the fact that he was always able to play the piano without damaging the keys and yet he steadfastly refuses to touch Bella for fear of hurting her. So therefore the love affair with the big, black, shiny piano was born.
DT:
Do you have any other Darksper stories or have plans to write more?
Gem:
This is the first thing that I have actually posted, but I do have another one in the pipeline...it just needs refining. I have found that I find it easier to write from the dark side as apposed to fluff...don't know what that says about me so I'm choosing to gloss over it LOL.
DT:
What gives you inspiration to write "Dark"?
Gem:
Lets just say that if the fate of the world rested on my shoulders, that if my choice not to go with the sexy arsed evil guy is what would tip the balance in humanities favor...then you'd all be royally screwed. lol.
Actually, this OS is the first dark fic that I have written...but I loved it! It was so freeing, and just so much fun! As soon as I saw the details of the contest I was inspired to write...it just took me a while to gather the courage together to actually send it in. So major thanks go to my sister (Jazz2305) and Mynxi for telling me, in no uncertain terms, that I was to just send it in already.

I loved this contest, anything that gives me my Darksper fix is a win in my book. The other entries were so good, I enjoyed reading them all...even when they caused me to cringe and cover my eyes at descriptions of eye lid removal.
I will definitely be writing more, I may even do something else with 'One Hell Of a Forever'...though I doubt it will be a multi chapter fic, but we'll see.
