One of the girls over at the muses, GemGem020507 , let out a frustrated rant on their blog concerning those who are upset over the treatment of some dark stories, including her own. I for one agree with her. So this is Izzy's version of their Saturday rants on a Sunday. The more I thought on this, the more it pissed me off and I wanted a say so in the matter.
I find it absurd that some readers waste their energy on bashing stories that lean to the dark side. It is for one, the writers choice to explore the darker genre of fics, and for two, should be respected, even if you don't agree with it. It is a fairly well known motto in Fan Fiction. Don't like, don't read.
Why waste your time and energy making an author feel like shit over something they work so hard on? It's rude and just plain bitchy. Most stories will warn you if something is dark and different, but even if it doesn't, it is still the author's story to do with as they please.
What is the purpose of these bitchy rants? Do those who leave these hateful and hurtful comments hope that by some miracle the story will suddenly morph into something different? Or do they just like to make others feel like shit, since they obviously have nothing better to do than bitch and pout about how a story didn't go their way. If you want a story to turn out a certain way, right one yourself. Just sayin'.
I agree with what Gem said. Darksper is no carebear. (Understand the picture now?) "Vampires" for one are mythical creatures who DON"T EXIST!!! Much to amazement of the more hardcore Twilight lovers in the Universe. It is, unbelievably to some, just a story. One that a lady decided to write after a dream she had. Therefore, when we write on tales of fiction based loosely off of her dream, they in return are not real, much like said vampires in question here.
So, tell me this. With the foundation firmly set on the "FACT" that vampires do not exist, why is it such a surprise that an author can make up their own story of dark, blood drinking beings who are out to take lives at will? Is it because you fell in love with the fact that SM's version of these creature's is romanticized and can't stand to see them any other way? The truth in point it's absurd. All old folklore and legends in regards to vampires (checked and nope, still not real) have painted them as blood thirsty creatures with no heart and no morals. So why is that when a writer tries to betray these more "traditional" attributes to one of the "Twilight" vampires (and again, still delving in the realm of fiction here) is it bashed and bitched upon?
Seriously, everyone has an opinion and you are more than entitled to voice it, but for the sake of not being a total ass and making a fool of yourself for needless blathering about how something is not up to "Twilight Code", keep the shit to yourself and don't read the darker stories. You obviously can't handle it and need to run back to your fluffy bunny stories and live in dreams of sparkle boys who swoop you off your feet. (Not that their is anything wrong with that, because we all fell in love with the story and read countless other such tales we swoon upon)
If nothing else, have respect for yourself and keep your ill willed opinions to yourself. No one likes unnecessary bitchiness, and although you may think you are cool because you spout it out unabashedly, it only makes you look like a three year old and drop you attitude at the preschool door.
