Ruthless: A Hardcore Horror One-Shot Contest

I've decided to host a contest! The first of many, actually!

After entering and having a great time doing the Fetlife At Twilight Contest, I could not resist the opportunity to have a bit of fun myself. I might have entered things like this ages ago if there were more darker themed contests getting around in the fandom; they seem to do mostly Romance-type contests in the Twi-fandom for some reason. So I decided to step in and do it myself.
I have posted the challenge at TWCS and if any of you can think of other place to put it then let me know. But, anyway, here it is!

Give me your depraved, your wicked, your ravenous masses yearning to disembowel freely.

I've decided to host my first ever contest! I do plan on doing more of these if this one is successful. Next one will probably be Bizaro Horror, but we'll get to that in the months to come.

But If you're unsure of what hardcore horror is, please see below.

Hardcore/Shock/Extreme/Splatterpunk Horror - A literary sub-genre characterized by the explicit description of horrific, violent, horror without limits, often containing licentious pornographic scenes.

My fellow judges and I really are dying to see what sick, twisted and horrendous things you can do with the sweet and beloved characters of Twilight!

Shock us! Horrify and terrify us! Make us gag! We love it!

Your goal is to make us squirm. A little vomit would be nice too!

There will be FOUR winning stories chosen:

1. First place will be chosen by the judging panel.
2. Second and third places will be chosen by popular vote.
3. And a Special Award will be given by DurtyNelly.

All winners will receive a Splattertastic banner and the right to call themselves hardcore.

The Rules:

All entries must be beta'd. This is an important one! All entries will have to make it past our gate keeper, The Mistress. And she is a cruel, whip-cranking harpy! So make sure your work is as error-free as possible. If she deems it unworthy, she will send it back to you with an evil cackle and demand that you fix it. You can then re-submit once the errors are taken care of.

1. Entries can be canon, all-human, or altern
   

   ate universe, and main characters must be from the Twilight fandom.
2. All entries must be one-shots, wholly original, and previously unpublished. No outtakes of or additions to other posted stories.
3. During the contest, authors may not say or imply that a story will be continued later, and no entries may be continued until after the winners are announced.
4. All entries must be between 2,500 and 7,500 words in length. If you're a little over or under, we're not going to spaz, or send it back.
   Collaborations welcome.
5. Crossovers welcome.
   
6. Two entries max. per author; including collaborations.

Wait? No rules condemning inappropriate content, like: no rape, incest, pedophilia, violence, beastiality, necrophilia, sadistic torture, midgets hammering nails into Edward's genitals, rabid chipmunks eating the eyeballs out of Emmett's rotting corpses, or The Mistress flaying authors alive for putting commas in the wrong place?

Be very cautious of just throwing gore, rape and violence in for the hell of it. If it's just put in there for no reason other than to classify the story as 'extreme' ... we'll know ... and hiss at it like it's a Danielle Steel novel.

Invasion of the Zombies contest has had a change of plan!

OK, change of plan. I've had a few peeps interested in uploading their fics for this thing already (holy fuck were you fast!) so I'm pulling a DT rank on this one and accepting entries starting immediately.

If you have a OS ready, feel free to upload it to TwiWrite and send us the link so we can get you on the contest page. All other contest dates will stay the same. Entries will be accepted until March 15th and voting still runs from March 17th to March 24th. Mmmmkay? Alrighty.

We're excited to have a hundred stories listed on our brand spankin' new site, and we want to show these amazing stories some love.
That's where you come in, loyal reader.
We are featuring our first contest on the site and want you to be a part of it. We're going to have a review showdown. Hopefully one of epic proportions. We want your thoughts on the amazing stories that are posted on the site so far. We're sure our awesome authors would appreciate some love too, so let's get our reading glasses on and our constructive juices flowing. It's time to review!

Rules:

• All Reviews must be given on www.twiwrite.net . No exceptions. This is a chance to give our authors on the site some love.

• Each Review must be submitted within the time limit allowed. (yes, we will be checking)

• Each Review must start with "Showdown Review". This way we know that you are participating in the review showdown.

• You're review must be detailed. It doesn't have to be a book, but at least three sentences and your thoughts on the chapter. We need to make sure you are reading the story, not just saying "Great chapter!" or "You Rock!" will not be accepted. Sorry, but anyone can write something like that without actually reading the story. Plus, hearing actual thoughts on a story is much appreciated from an author. They put their work out for you to review and want some "meat" so to speak on what you say.

• Reviews are not to be hateful in any way. Criticism is wanted by most authors to help them grow, but we can be nice about it. If your review is deemed hateful or mean (that's a no, no) then it will not count and your account will be suspended since it is against the site rules.

• You can NOT review your own story. We don't think we need to explain how wrong that is.

Temptation of the Naughty Muses

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR:

Ever wondered what temptations dark characters crave? What about dark Bella, or Darkella as we call her? Is there anything that can tempt a dark Bella? Human or Vamp? She is one bad ass bitch, so what temptations out there lie that can bring her to her.. ahem... knees? Is her biggest temptation blood as a thirsty vampire or is it something darker? Lust, drugs, murder? In your Bella's dark world, what would be her darkest, naughtiest temptation? We want you to write about it. The darker, the better. So bring on the deepest, darkest fantasies and tell us what tempts your Darkella.

RULES:

1. Darkella (Dark Bella) must be the central character.

2. All Bella pairings will be accepted. Femslash is encouraged.

3. Length must be 2500+ words, no max.

4. Lemons are not mandatory, but will be gladly accepted. (we love smut)

One Hell of a Forever

We had the opportunity to interview her and get into her dark little head a bit and we will in a moment, but first we wanted to give our two cents worth of beans about what we thought of this fic. 

I think I cried out all my tears on this one.

It was awesomesauce, totes!! Jasper taking off Rosalie's arm and

beating her with it... I died.... *cries* Edward dry humping his

piano... *grins*

That was just priceless, even without Jasper's "help" it would have

been hysterical. There was seriousness in here but at times, I think

but it was just too damn comical. That is how you know it is great,

when you can't stop reading and laughing when you should be disturbed.

*shrugs* I love the way it is all balanced and you did a Great Job!

This is the story of what happens when Jasper has his sights set on something. Let's just say that determination is an understatement and some surprising lives will be lost. This was an epic o/s, topping out at over 10,000 words, so it contains a well-written, strong plot. You won't believe the things Jasper does in this one. I had to read it twice! Obviously many agree with me since it won the voter's pick. The author also writes about a particular piano scene that displays Jasper's power in a way that I have never seen it used before. You have to read it for yourself.

I found myself on the edge of my seat during this one. It was unreal. One of the things that I found highly disturbing about this contest was how many of these stories made me laugh. How fucked up is that? And this fic here was no exception because I laughed so hard I about pissed myself. Eddie and Piano lovin... that's all I'm sayin'. I was also floored by how easy going this all was. I found myself wanting Jasper to rip them all apart and throw them in a fire, and that is unbelievable. I loved how she portrayed the Cullen's as being so messed up and not the perfect family like most of us see them. I was a bundle of anticipation, just waiting to see what secrets we would uncover next. 

Thank you again to GemmaLisa for the taking the time out to answer a few of our questions. Here is what she told us about herself and the contest. 

DT: 

 Tell us about yourself... 

Gem:

Well...I'm a 28yr old stay at home mum of two daughters, my town is pretty much the English version of Forks...although we get a little more sunshine.  I spend my days with my kids...studiously ignoring any housework that needs to be done in order to keep up with the gargantuan amount of fics that I read.  

I came to the Twilight Saga via the film...I knew about the books before hand (by 'knew' I mean constantly ordered to read them and threatened with bodily harm if I continued to ignore her...thank you sister dear.) but i wanted to watch the film first.  Because I am stubborn and I hate it when films deviate from the books...so I played safe.  Of course once I started reading I didn't stop, and let me tell you...breastfeeding whilst trying to hold onto the huge hard back copy of 'Breaking Dawn' is no easy task.

My introduction to Fanfiction was also via my sister, whose obsession became known to me only when she gave up asking me to read some of it and literally dragged me to her computer and forced me to sit down.  And I've pretty much been there ever since LOL.

DT:

 What do you like about the Darker side of Jasper?

Gem:

Oh god...what is there not to like?!  Jasper begs to be such an emotive character and that translates so well into the ultimate bad boy persona...and who doesn't want to be the one that tames the monster?  I love the idea that he has that one person that he would do anything for, that there are no boundaries if he loves you.  Yet you are safe in the knowledge that he can and will kick the shit out of anyone that bothers you.  Or murder half his family...lol.  Not forgetting the undeniable fact that he is incredibly sexy...with a gift that women would kill to take advantage of and that accent?  Oh yes please!

DT:

What are some of your favorite Darksper stories? Or Dark stories in general?

Gem:

Pfft...we could be here all day lol.  'The Scent of Fear' by VampishVixen is definitely one of my favorites, 'Bound by Promises' by JaspersIzzy has me itching for the next chapter, 'Who Are You?' by Baruka Athena captures you so easily  I love when the Major comes out to play in JamesRamsey's 'Insecurities' and when Mynxi's 'Saving Bella' has Jasper dragging Bella out of the darkness that Edward left her in and Jasper's Black Rose writes a wonderful Darksper.  Another favorite of mine is 'Wanted' by Anadabyel, funny as hell and she rocks the Bad Boy Jasper.  Jasper's Sex Kitten has a definite talent for playing with dark characters and I am loving 'Innocence Lost' and Cullen818's Darkward and I am holding out for Idreamofeddy to finish off 'Breathless Hunger'.  That is not all of them by far, my obsession knows no bounds.

DT:

 You killed off some of the Cullen's, but not all in this OS. What possessed you to choose some and not others? 

Gem:

To be honest, my first thoughts when I decided to write this was that I was going to kill them all off...but I just couldn't do it lol.  I wanted a more morally ambiguous Cullen Family and a murder spree, so I had to pick and choose who would still be around at the end.  Jasper wanted Bella...so those in opposition had to die.  Alice...well there was no question that she would be the first to go.  I wanted her murder to be the catalyst for the rest, with her out of the way Jasper didn't need to worry about anyone scuppering his plans.  Rose was just too easy to kill off I'm afraid, especially when I wanted a free and easy Emmett.  Of course Edward was a given, but I liked that Bella was the one to rip him apart...he probably even enjoyed it.  Carlisle and Esme...they were safe because I love them and a naughty Carlisle is always a Carlisle that you keep lol, and I am desperate for a less than motherly Esme.  

DT:

 How did you come up with that "Eddie getting off on the piano" scene? That had us all in stitches.

Gem:

LOL.  Well...I needed something that would mortify poor Edward enough that he would leave and give the rest some worthy entertainment and demonstrate the power that Jasper wields, I was also hoping for a laugh for the readers.  Not to mention a little revenge for Bella.  It was the fact that he was always able to play the piano without damaging the keys and yet he steadfastly refuses to touch Bella for fear of hurting her.  So therefore the love affair with the big, black, shiny piano was born.  

DT:

 Do you have any other Darksper stories or have plans to write more?

Gem:

This is the first thing that I have actually posted, but I do have another one in the pipeline...it just needs refining.  I have found that I find it easier to write from the dark side as apposed to fluff...don't know what that says about me so I'm choosing to gloss over it LOL.

DT:

 What gives you inspiration to write "Dark"?

Gem:

Lets just say that if the fate of the world rested on my shoulders, that if my choice not to go with the sexy arsed evil guy is what would tip the balance in humanities favor...then you'd all be royally screwed.  lol.

Actually, this OS is the first dark fic that I have written...but I loved it!  It was so freeing, and just so much fun!  As soon as I saw the details of the contest I was inspired to write...it just took me a while to gather the courage together to actually send it in.  So major thanks go to my sister (Jazz2305) and Mynxi for telling me, in no uncertain terms, that I was to just send it in already.

I loved this contest, anything that gives me my Darksper fix is a win in my book. The other entries were so good, I enjoyed reading them all...even when they caused me to cringe and cover my eyes at descriptions of eye lid removal. 

I will definitely be writing more, I may even do something else with 'One Hell Of a Forever'...though I doubt it will be a multi chapter fic, but we'll see.

Death by Darksper Contest Week... Not by my Hand by Luke's Momma

Today we are featuring our Honorable Mention. This story was amazing and we couldn't not give it props for it's originality. It was a twist on the whole Death by Darksper idea and it blew me away.

Summary: Jasper is bored and needs a 'lab rat' to test if he wants Alice dead. But Edward reads his thoughts and Alice has her visions. There must be a way around both surely? Bella is merely a human of no consequence so why not test his theories on her? It's not as if it will affect him right? Has anyone ever truly known Jasper's and what he is really capable of?

This was an entry fot the Death by Darksper Contest and it honestly
has to be the most original though an concept I have seen. There was a
depth to it that was understated but so easy to follow.

-- Now that was just a fuckin' insult. I mean please. Do they not
realise that I'm the fuckin' God of War? Do they not understand how
many newborns I've actually created an' the strength of will that shit
took? If I couldn't control myself in the heat of battle then there'd
be a whole lot more Goddamn dead people instead of blood sucking
vampires.--

All I can say to that piece of this is *ded* It gave me chills, I
could so picture his face when this was said. The fact that you can
get so into it and have a mini movie playing in your head (well in
mine anyway) was just perfection. It was a great read... the parting
lines will forever be inbedded in my twisted little brain thatnks to

This o/s stuck with me. It was well-written and surprisingly developed for such a short fic. It was creative and original, and most definitely deserves an honorable mention. And, since I'm on a Peter kick lately, I thoroughly enjoyed his presence.

This fic displays Jasper's gift in a way that I've never seen it used before. His power over Bella is captivating to say the least. This is a chilling story that will leave a huge impression on you in the end. It's dark and dire, but if you're on this blog or in this C-2 then that's what you're looking for. This is one of those stories that will stay with you.

This OS blew me away when I read it. It was so original and just fucking awesome. I loved how Jasper had such an influence over Bella and worked it to get what he wanted. It was just one of those stories that you think you know what is going on until you get to the end and your all "WTF just happened?" and half to go back and read it again, excited. 

This story was so dark and twisted and you didn't even know it till the end. I beg you to read it if you haven't already. It is so worth it and it deserved this honorable mention for being so wicked in it's own very creative way.
