Journey to the Dark Side with @JaspersIzzy

Hello my lovely dark lovers. I wanted to do something a little different for you this week. I've recently had conversations with a few of you that love the dark side of writing, but aren't sure if you can do it or where to start, so I've decided to do a segment for you to help with that.


I think most of you will be surprised to find that it's easier to write dark than you think. I'm not saying it's the easiest thing to write something as dark as killing off all the Cullen's (looks sheepish), because those types of chapters can be very emotionally draining for you, as well as your readers; especially to write it well. However, you can start off with something easy and work yourself in.


We here believe that dark is not just dark. There are many different levels of dark. This is something that Cullen818 will be elaborating on in the near future, but in the meantime, I want to challenge you all to at least start somewhere. If you already write dark material, maybe this will help you in going a little deeper if you so choose. Either way, this segment is poised to help you discover yourself through your writing. 


What can be considered dark?


Maybe a Peeping Tom Carlisle? Or Edward burying a body in a graveyard? How about Bella as a drug addict and the bad things she does in order to feed her drug addiction? These are fairly mild things you can start with, depending on where you take it.


I've read many a dark fic from amazing authors who start out with a mildly dark character, but as time goes on they get bolder and their characters become more tortured and sinister. That is a great way to start out. You'll never know if you don't try. It's worth a shot, right?


Now for those really adventurous types, you can dive right in and go for it. Vampire Jasper kidnaps Bella for his own personal... pleasure. (grins) Emmett stalking Rosalie and torturing her for some unknown sin she committed against him. The possibilities are endless. So brainstorm, come up with a good game plan and find you a good pre-reader for your first chapters. Someone that will be honest and tell you their thoughts; giving you good, constructive criticism. 


I bet you are wondering how this is helping since these are things that we do with any fic, not just dark. Well, this is where this segment comes in. I want to help inspire you. I want to help nurture that little dark seedling just waiting to be watered and sprout out into the world of fan fiction. 


I am going to give you some prompts to help you visually. I hope these will help inspire your imaginations and give you ideas for your own dark fics. Whether you are a beginner in the world of dark, or a pro at writing the evil and demented characters, it is my wish that these prompts stir those inner ideas and get your creative... juices going. (smirk) 


My challenge to you... Drabbles, One Shots, a Multi-Chapter fic, doesn't matter, but I want you to take these pictures below and let them help bring you're inner monster out and write something, ANYTHING, that is dark in nature. Doesn't matter what level of dark, just that you do it. 


You can choose to share it with us or keep it for yourself. We would be more than happy to post what you write here, but will be happy just knowing we could help you in your journey in coming out of your comfort zone. It's important we try all aspects of writing. It helps us discover what we are good at. Again, how will you ever know if you don't at least try? 


So... here's your visual prompts to help you in your journey. Take a good look at them. You might be inspired by all or only one for that matter, but I hope that at least one of the following prompts will help you in your writings. Since we are starting off, these will be fairly mild in nature, so here we go....

Prompts can be an awesome way to help you with writers block or to get an idea. Pictures, along with music, can be great forms of inspiration. I hope you use these and think up an awesome dark story, drabble, or O/S. If you so choose to, you can send us what you come up with, and we'll post it or the link for where it is posted at. It's up to you.
