As promised I'm back with the goods from rmcrms5. Before we start, I'd like to say congratulations to her for taking home the Immortal Sin Award for Darkest Overall Fic. That honor went to her incredible story, The Perfect Wife.

Today we're discussing...

For the Love of My Obsession

Emmett/Bella

I read a lot of dark, but Emmett is few and far between. What is it about

him that made you choose him for this fic?

I know it's hard to believe since I've made him unredeemable in this story,

but he's actually my favorite between Edward, Jasper & Emmett. I have always

liked men who were built with broad shoulders. My husband was a football

player and farm boy growing up so maybe that's it. I love his character in the

books. He's protective of his family and fun loving as well. There just

aren't many good Emmett stories on ff that I've found. Everyone paints him as

an idiot. I don't see that. In the books Rosalie was raped and left for dead

by her fiancé. She wouldn't tie herself for eternity to a man who was an

idiot. She would be with someone who made her feel safe and loved. I'm really

hoping this story gets people thinking about his character and inspires some

good Emmett stories. Then please send them my way.

Why AH Emmett as opposed to vamp?

I don't want to give anyone a reason to excuse his behavior. If I made him a

vampire obsessed with getting Bella everyone would be more accepting of his

behavior. Mob stories seem to be the going theme these days in ff, but

everyone paints Mobward as such a loving wonderful guy. Keep in mind when I

say this next part, I read, favorite and review these stories too, but

mobsters are not loving, wonderful people. They deal in drugs, murder,

extortion, sex and it's all for money and power. They destroy people's lives.

There's nothing glamorous about it. All the ff stories out there romanticize

this so I'm doing what I do best and bucking the system. I wanted to go the

other direction and show them for who they really are. Monsters.

Without giving too much away, I think its okay to say that Emmett is pretty

obsessed with Bella in this fic. I would ask how far he's willing to take

that

obsession, but after reading chapter 1, I think we get a pretty clear

picture.

As the author, what do you think is driving that obsession?

Emmett is used to having the power at his fingertips to get whatever he wants

in life. No one is going to tell him no. His obsession with Bella is nothing

more than wanting something unattainable. If he had been successful at

breaking up Edward & Bella, he would have quickly lost interest in her. His

obsession grew out of control because he couldn't have her. Don't mistake

obsession for love. Emmett doesn't know what love is.

Do you have any thoughts, tidbits or teasers you'd like to share with up on

upcoming chapters?

I will tell you this much. This is not TPW and Emmett is not redeemable in

this story. (I really hate saying that since I love Emmett) There will be

someone coming into the story who will be Bella's HEA.

It's a little early to tell but all is not as it seems with everyone in the

story. Bella has a guardian angel watching over her.

Any other dark stories or characters you have swirling around in your head?

I'm actually thinking of a dark Jasper story next. A sociopathic psychiatrist?

I can do all sorts of twisted things with his character. Maybe I'll let Emmett

be the hero in that one.
